Team Rio made short work of Central America - Woohoo.
1,531 miles through the balance of Guatemala (8), through the coastal area of El Salvador (4), quickly entering and exiting Honduras , conquering Nicaragua (7) and then through allegedly one of the most beautiful places on earth - Costa Rica (2); incidentally, the numbers in parenthesis are the number of active or potentially active volcanos that are essentially on the stepping path through Central America as the Cocos Tectonic Plate subducts beneath the Caribbean plate, with the resulting volcanos lining the Pacific coast of Central America pretty much in its entirety - spectacular.
Then our fearless band cross the border into Panama. through David, Tole, Santiago then the winding roads (where did all these mountains and jungles come from?!?!?!) to Panama City. We cross the Panama Canal and continue on the Panamericana highway until. it.....er....ends. We'll continue in the next blog, but some great effort on the 31st from the team.
So through the muck and mud of the rain forests of Central America on the 31st, who were our literally "Dirty Dozen" that were on a mission to not be in Central America...with steps?
