It is not too late for others to join.  One group has reached Brownsville and the rest are closing in quickly.  Great job this weekend!!!

Update through 5/23….

Arches National Park Group:  Team Jayhawk/Golden State – this group is taking no prisoners!  Soaring down I-10, a quick rest stop at the Sonora Caves covering huge amounts of ground through to San Antonio, a quick stop for  Guacamole at Boudros on the riverwalk, then I-37 to Corpus Christi, TX, south through the southernmost part of the US that is not Florida, and completing the trek to Brownsville with 26 miles in the bank.  Time to rest up and await the other teams.

Sunset Beach NC Group:  399 miles for Camden and WWAY since the last count….wooohoo!  West through Atlanta on I-20, southwest on I-85 past Newnan and LaGrange, over the ‘Bama border, through Auburn Tiger territory to Montgomery, then to I-65 all the way to the port city of Mobile, then across the Mississippi border just past Moss point and north by northwest of one of the coolest town names ever – Pascagoula, Mississippi.

The St. Louis Arch Group:  209 miles for the team KY/WI.  To the Tulsa, OK suburbs, then via OK 364 and the Muskogee Turnpike to US 69 south/southwest through Muskogee, OK, McAlester, OK, over the Texas border before coming to rest in Denison, Texas, sight of the first public school in Texas in 1873, with a newspaper first publishing in 1889.

Bienville NF Mississippi Group:  333 miles logged since the last recap.  Through Houston on US 69, connecting to US 77 in Victoria, Texas (home of the Texas Zoo, with native animals living in natural habitats), past Corpus Christi and finally ending in San Benito, TX, a stone’s  throw from Brownsville.

Atlanta Group:   Go west Atlanta, on I-10 through the Bayou, on to Lake Charles, LA, across to the Lone Star State, into the great city of Houston, a short jaunt to the Houston Space Center, back through the city then south by southwest until just crossing the bridge over Lake Texana in Edna, Texas.  292 miles since last recap.

Bonnaroo Group:  Team Tennessee/Far North Georia navigates 297 miles following the Atlanta path through Lafayette, past Lake Charles and coming to a halt near the shores of Trinity Bay (offshoot of Galveston Bay) near Wallisville, TX, with Houston’s refineries in the distance.
