Little Did We Know !!!!

This little tidbit of excitement is courtesy of our stepping machine in Great Bend, Kansas, and it has been verified with a separate source - you can attain "steps" by standing up!   Say what?  Yes indeed, and here's how.

If you have a standing desk at work and stand while working at a computer, you can earn 46 steps per minute or 670 steps per 15 minutes, or 2,670 steps per hour.   How loudly can you say WOOHOO.

Some caution though - it is also not the best idea to stand too long in one place for back, knee and joint issues, especially for those of us who are stuck on 29 years of age...LOL.

Of course this has lead to some questions about other "activities" also having equivalent step numbers that can be implied/assumed.  Let's set the record straight:

 - Earning steps for swallowing gulps of beer (or wine):  Um, how about NO!
 - Earning steps while watching somebody else exercise:  Nice try, but no so much....
 - Earning steps while punching the remote button on the television or texting on your cell phone:  actually, there is a movement for these to count as NEGATIVE STEPS - stay tuned (pun intended).

So to repeat, standing during the day at a standing desk is worth 46 steps per minute....690 per 15 minutes and 2,670 per hour.
