To all,
This will be the first time we’ve started a step contest on a Saturday (5/14), so it hopefully be a good way to kick it off with good step numbers Day #1.
I’m planning to (gulp/yikes/the polar opposite of Woohoo) include some swimming time this go around to try to ease the burden on the legs/feet. Speaking of which – take the time to stretch and hydrate.
For all - remember the basic safety and preparation elements, with a couple of words of wisdom (?).
The more the merrier – it is always easier to gain steps with a group. It is also a great time to avoid the tube and technology, except of course for an iPod or near facsimile for entertainment if you are going it alone.
Seriously, and to repeat, emphasis on stretching and hydration.

Three days to go until kick-off and game on, or perhaps more appropriately, RIO GAMES ON!!!

- Nobody in their zeal to carry the Olympic torch wants to wind up accidentally setting their hair on fire and becoming the carrier they will ALWAYS remember...
- Explore a local state park or hiking trail. But probably not the morning after eating a boatload of spicy Chili or Gumbo….
- Enjoy a long bike ride. But not while texting and traversing the shoulder of a highway…you can actually put your cell phone away. Shockingly, lightning will not strike you….
- Take the dog(s) for a long run or walk. But avoid the areas of squirrel courtship and migrations…it won’t end well.
